And circus rebel.
I grew up in a circus town – home of Barnum and Bailey. And, while life on the high wire seemed enticing, the whole running away with the circus thing didn’t carry the same weight. I mean the big top was right down the block.
So, instead, my act of rebellion was to become a writer.
It started with playwriting, then sketch comedy, and then, on the 22 bus in Chicago, a buddy was like you should be a copywriter. And I was like no thanks I’m not the legal type. And then I learned what copywriting is, and was like oh… yeah. This sounds wonderful.
That was 2013. Since then, I’ve collaborated on digital ads, video campaigns, inbound content, streaming commercials, and interactive content. I’m also an aspiring screenwriter – check out my screenwriting portfolio here!
My work has been recognized by the American Advertising Federation, Austin Film Festival, Indie Short Fest, and the National Alliance for Musical Theater.
From 2016 to 2019, I worked as the Content Strategist and Copywriter for design startup Ceros, writing interactive copy and UX for brands like IBM, United Airlines, Izod, and Mazda.
From 2018 to 2022, I founded and ran Superwords, a video script-writing agency. Our scrappy team wrote over 500 video scripts for one of the largest U.S.-based digital publications.
Currently, I’m under contract with Apple’s Photo Storytelling team.
When I’m not working, I’m hanging with my wife, playing music, writing in coffee shops, and getting out in nature. And sure, I’ve been known to juggle a little.
